📱What stays on your device
Your learning progress — the XP you earn and the chapters you unlock — is saved only on your phone, in the app's private storage. It is never uploaded anywhere.
If you uninstall the app, this progress is deleted with it. There is no cloud copy and no way for us to restore it, because we never had it.
🌎What the app sends over the internet
The app makes one kind of request: it downloads lesson content — Chinese words, pinyin, example
sentences, audio, images and quiz questions — from our server at reborncoder.xyz.
These are read-only downloads over an encrypted HTTPS connection. They carry no personal information, no device identifier and no account of any kind. Our server does not build a profile of you and does not record what you looked at.
🚫What we never do
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or photos
- We do not use any advertising network
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services
- We do not use cookies or advertising identifiers
- We do not sell, share or transfer data to third parties
- We do not track your location
🔑Permissions
The app requests only what it needs to download lessons:
- Internet access — to download lesson content
- Network state — to check you are online before downloading
🧸Children's privacy
The app is safe for learners of all ages. Because we collect no personal data from anyone, we collect no personal data from children. We do not knowingly collect information from users of any age, including children under 13.
🗑Deleting your data
All app data lives on your device. To remove it completely, either clear the app's storage (Settings → Apps → Chinese Daily Talk → Storage → Clear data) or uninstall the app.
Because we hold no personal data about you on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end and no deletion request is necessary.
📝Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. If we ever begin collecting personal data, we will update this policy and the app's Google Play Data Safety declaration before doing so.
🔄What changed in this version
Earlier versions of this app offered optional accounts, a leaderboard and profile pictures. Those features have been removed entirely.
All accounts and everything stored with them — email addresses, passwords and cloud-saved progress — were permanently deleted from our servers in August 2026. We no longer hold any of it.
Your learning progress on your device was not affected and carries over. You do not need an account to keep using the app.
